Our Verification of Death Training supports registered practitioners to understand the professional, legal and practical responsibilities involved in confirming that a person has died.
The course covers the difference between verification and certification of death, expected and unexpected death, when to escalate to a doctor, Medical Examiner or Coroner, and the step-by-step examination and documentation process. Covers expected death, DNACPR/ReSPECT, documentation, bereavement care and Coroner referral considerations.
Verification of death is a sensitive and important clinical responsibility. It requires practitioners to work within their competence, follow local policy, communicate compassionately with families and document findings clearly.
