Course Details:

Our Acute Management of Anaphylaxis Training supports healthcare professionals to recognise, assess and respond safely to life-threatening allergic reactions in line with relevant guidance and emergency treatment algorithms. 

 

This practical course, designed for face to face delivery, explores the recognition of anaphylaxis, emergency management, adrenaline administration, autoinjector pens and devices and post-incident care to support rapid, safe and effective patient treatment.

Over 25,000 Hospital Admissions for allergies and anaphylaxis were recorded in 2022-23. Hospital admissions linked to allergies and anaphylaxis have more than doubled over the past 20 years, this highlights the importance of rapid recognition and emergency treatment.

Learning Outcomes – Anaphylaxis Emergency Treatment

By the end of this CPD-accredited course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
  • Identify common allergens and triggers
  • Differentiate between allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
  • Apply the ABCDE approach during emergency assessment
  • Understand the emergency treatment algorithm for anaphylaxis
  • Administer intramuscular adrenaline safely
  • Understand the use of adrenaline autoinjectors including EpiPen® and Jext®
  • Recognise when escalation and emergency services are required
  • Support safe post-incident monitoring, documentation and follow-up care
