Peripheral Intravenous Cannulation Technique

Course Details:

Registered Practitioners will explore the principles underpinning invasive procedures, including informed consent, professional accountability, infection prevention, and vein selection. Anatomical knowledge of the skin and vascular system is combined with clinical reasoning to support appropriate cannula choice and placement.

Through evidence‑based teaching and simulated hands‑on practice, delegates gain a clear understanding of indications, contraindications, and potential complications associated with peripheral cannulation. Emphasis is placed on ongoing cannula site assessment, aftercare, and early identification of complications to minimise preventable harm.
