Zoladex and Prostap

Course Overview

This 3 hour training course will be delivered by a Clinical Nurse Educator with first hand clinical experience.

Suitable For:
This content is aimed at Primary Care staff and is recommended for registered practitioners.

Session Aim:
This lesson aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of Zoladex and Prostap injections/implants. Participants will gain awareness of the historical usage of these treatments in both male and female patients. The lesson will cover the mode of action of Zoladex and Prostap, highlighting their effectiveness in medical treatment. Participants will learn about the possible side effects and the risk of anaphylaxis during and after administration. Contraindications and relevant SMPC/EMC information will be reviewed, including frequency and follow-up guidelines.

The lesson will also emphasize the importance of adhering to NICE guidelines and the Royal Marsden procedural guidance for safe administration. Finally, participants will have the opportunity to observe and practice the correct injection administration procedure. By the end of the lesson, participants will have a solid understanding of Zoladex and Prostap, enabling them to administer these treatments safely and effectively.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Have an awareness of the history and usage of these injections/implants – male and female.
  • Have an understanding of the mode of action of Zoladex and Prostap.
  • Have knowledge of possible side effects and anaphylaxis risk during and after administration.
  • Review contraindications and be aware of SMPC/EMC information around frequency and follow up associated with these drugs.
