Course Overview
This 3 hour training course will be delivered by a Clinical Nurse Educator with first hand clinical experience, drawing on their own experience and knowledge in stroke care.

This content is aimed at healthcare professionals involved in the care of stroke sufferers wanting to enhance their knowledge and review current practice.
Session Aim:
Stroke strikes every five minutes, 100,000 people have strokes each year. It can happen to anyone, of any age, at any time. It's vital to know how to spot the signs of a stroke in yourself or someone else.
This session aims to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of stroke care by exploring the components of the cardiovascular system, identifying stroke risk factors, signs, and types, recognising common complications associated with stroke, assessing risk factors for cardiovascular disease and stroke, promoting lifestyle interventions, exploring pharmacological and post-stroke interventions, understanding strategies for preventing further strokes, and providing support for families and caregivers post-stroke.
Learning Outcomes:
- Be aware of the components of the cardiovascular system.
- Understand stroke risk factors, signs and types of stroke.
- Have knowledge of the common complications relating to stroke.
- Understand risk factors and risk assessments for individuals at risk of developing cardiovascular disease and stroke, utilising current tools.
- Be able to encourage change in individuals including lifestyle interventions.
- Be aware of pharmacological/post stroke interventions.
- Have an understanding of prevention of further strokes.
- Provide support for families and carers post stroke
