Introduction to Wound Care and Pressure Area Care

This 3 hour session will be delivered by a Clinical Nurse Educator with first hand clinical experience.

This course is aimed at all healthcare staff, ideal for those new to wound care, or those looking to enhance their current skills or review current practice.
Session Aim:
Effective wound care training programs, as demonstrated by research from NHS Improvement, have been found to significantly reduce avoidable pressure ulcers. With implementing comprehensive training, hospitals have experiencing up to a 50% decrease in pressure ulcer prevalence among patients.
This training aims to equip participants with a thorough understanding of wound care and pressure area care management. Throughly explore anatomy of healthy skin, wound healing stages and implementing the T.I.M.E framework utilisation for wound assessment.
Participants will develop a strong foundation in wound care principles and furthermore, will learn to identify and treat skin tears, prevent pressure ulcers, and utilise assessment tools like MUST and Waterlow. Discussion and demonstration for progressive wound care will enhance their ability to choose appropriate dressings and deliver optimal patient care.
