This training is suitable for healthcare professionals, public health practitioners, and any individuals involved in administering, promoting, or managing flu immunisation programs.
Session Aim:
Ongoing public and professional confidence is critical to the success of the annual flu vaccination programme. A high level of knowledge and a positive attitude to vaccination in healthcare practitioners are widely acknowledged as being important determinants in achieving and maintaining high vaccine uptake. It is therefore vital that vaccinators are confident, proficient and have a sound and current knowledge of the vaccines and the vaccine programme that they are delivering. (GOV.uk).
This training provides a comprehensive overview of flu vaccination. We will explore the significance of vaccinating against flu and its impact on public health. Understanding the immune response to flu vaccines and the various types available will be covered. Current issues in flu immunisation and effective communication with patients, parents, and carers, as well as obtaining consent. Additionally, we will address proper storage, handling, and administration of flu vaccines, and how to handle anaphylaxis and adverse reactions. The importance of documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting will be emphasised, along with strategies to improve immunisation uptake.
