Course Overview
This 3 hour training course will be delivered by a Clinical Nurse Educator experienced providing holistic care of individuals living with dementia.

This content is aimed at all health and social care workers providing support to those living with dementia.
Session Aim:
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and understanding necessary to support patients with dementia. The course includes learning about the different types of dementia, their symptoms, and how the condition progresses. By gaining this knowledge, participants will be better equipped to identify and empathise with individuals affected by dementia, thereby preserving their dignity and human rights.
The course also focuses on enhancing participants' ability to interact effectively with individuals with dementia. Exploring compassionate and empathetic communication techniques, practicing person-centred care, and developing strategies to manage challenging behaviours. By improving their skills in engaging with individuals with dementia, participants can contribute to improving their quality of life and provide appropriate support to both patients and their caregivers. The overall aim of this course is to familiarise participants with dementia, support their interactions with individuals affected by the condition, and equip them with the knowledge to guide patients and caregivers to suitable support services.
