Clinical Risk Assessment and Management

Course Overview

This 3 hour training course will be delivered by a Clinical Nurse Educator with first hand clinical experience, drawing on their own experience and knowledge.

Suitable For:
All Healthcare Professionals and non-clinical staff across all settings. These can include either those with existing knowledge looking to enhance their current understanding, or attendees looking to acquire new skills and practice effectively.

Session Aim:
Safety is at the centre of all gold standard health care. Clinical Risk Assessment and Management is integral to the co-ordination and delivery of effective and safe care.

This training is designed to provide adult health and social care workers with an understanding of the principles of safety, risk management and risk mitigation within a healthcare environment.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Overview of Clinical Risk Management and Assessment to include why and how we do this.
  • Be aware of Hazards, Control and Risk, including Legal and Governance Frameworks, Local and National Policies and Guidelines.
  • Have an understanding of the underpinning regulations and regulatory bodies – RIDDOR,
    COSHH, CQC, NMC and the Risk Assessment Process.
  • Documentation, best practice risk management plan and the governance lead role.
  • Understand cultural sensitivity.
  • Have the opportunity of building a risk management plan.
  • Be involved in poor risk assessment and management consequences – what happens when it goes wrong, including scenarios.
