Session Aim:
Blood pressure measurement is a fundamental component of patient assessment and is crucial in the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases. It is essential for healthcare professionals to have a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system and the skills to accurately measure blood pressure.
This training course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to
accurately measure blood pressure, interpret readings, and identify deviations from normal
ranges. By the end of the training, participants will be able to apply this knowledge to practical scenarios, offer advice to patients on lifestyle modifications, and contribute to the prevention and management of high blood pressure.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand anatomy and physiology of the heart and the circulatory system, and how blood pressure is measured.
- Perform accurate measurement of the pulse and blood pressure using appropriate
techniques and equipment. - Interpret readings of pulse and blood pressure, and identify normal ranges, as well as
understand the causes and implications of deviations from normal ranges. - Identify and explain the various factors that can affect blood pressure, such as age, gender, physical activity, and medication.
- Discuss the importance of lifestyle modifications, such as dietary changes, physical activity, and stress management, in the prevention and management of high blood pressure.
