This 3 hour training course will be delivered by a Clinical Nurse Educator with first hand clinical experience.

This content is aimed at Registered Healthcare professionals and Senior Carers with Insulin Administration as part of their scope of practice - across all healthcare settings.

Session Aim:
This session aims to enhance the care provided to individuals living with diabetes by equipping healthcare professionals with an understanding of the disease's basic pathophysiology and effective management strategies. By gaining insights into diabetes's underlying mechanisms, healthcare professionals can make informed decisions and provide tailored interventions.

Additionally, the session focuses on the latest advancements and evidence-based practices in diabetes care, ensuring individuals receive comprehensive and optimised treatment plans. Overall, this session strives to improve the quality of care delivered to individuals with diabetes, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Distinguish between type 1 and type 2 Diabetes.
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of Diabetes, including Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia.
  • Acquire knowledge about the various types of Insulin.
  • Understand the potential side effects and complications associated with insulin administration.
  • Develop proficiency in performing effective blood glucose monitoring.
  • Understand the techniques and best practices for insulin administration
